My chosen charity: Lisa

 

During one of my training rides I met a cycling team called „Bike Five“. As is the normal amongst the cycling fraternity we started chatting and I learnt that the team of 5 were raising money for a girl called Lisa.

Lisa is 18 years old and was born with a very rare skin disease which was caused by a defect in her genes.

Caring for Lisa is a full time round the clock job which poses a real challenge for her mother.

I had become curious and decided to get in touch with Lisa and her mother. I am so glad that I could make the acquaintance of them both. We spent a very nice afternoon together and I am still impressed about the warm hearted welcome they gave me. Despite all the worries, pain and problems which mark her everyday life, Lisa is a normal cheerful young woman although the skin all over her body is inflamed. As this type of disease is so rare therapies and treatments are little known and the medication and ointments that Lisa urgently needs are extremely expensive. What I find incredible is that the health insurance does not finance new medication or therapies, mainly due to ignorance.

Lisa has accepted my invitation to spend an exciting evening of fun with us at the Kaisersaal.

The Goal of Bicycle Heroes "Fahrradhelden"

Bicycles Heroes "Fahrradhelden" Berlin is a project of the Foundation dare, which helps traumatized children who grow up in Germany. Under the slogan "All children are important", the foundation improves the start-up opportunities in the children's lives by giving them a certain degree of normality in their lives. The foundation is active throughout Germany.

To experience sport as a part of life is a bright spot in an otherwise seemingly hopeless situation! The foundation provides information on topics of sexual and violent abuse of children and cooperates with sports clubs and celebrities from the sport.

The charity-everybody-tour for the founding of the cystic fibrosis research:

95km cycling for a good cause!

Muko Bike Tour supports the German foundation for cycstic fibrosis research e.V. The net proceeds from the tricot and launch place sale are donated to 100% of the good cause. Approximately 400 participants enter the pedals every year.

 

What is cystic fibrosis?

Cystic fibrosis is an incurable hereditary disease. Through a genetic defect the metabolism is disturbed. This leads to the production of all the body's own secretions - tough mucus glues the lungs or the pancreas. The air is often lacking. We would like to support the German Society for the Study of Mucoviscidosis in the investigation of the disease in order to cure it at some time.

The LILA LOGISTIC Charity Bike Cup will take place for the 11th time in 2017. According the motto have fun and doing good things, the "jedermänner" start each team together with a prominent team captain and drive for STARCARE e.V. - We help children.

The principle: Each team has one or two prominent team captains, with whom they go together on the course. The desired team can be given at the time of registration, each team has 50 starting places.

Overall, the charity bike cup has already gathered 370,000 euros for a good cause.

 

 

 

 

Together with Guido Fulst & Friends we support the Arche Berlin. As part of the VELO Berlin 2018, a donation was collected for each trip on the Mini Drome Velodrome, which was forwarded in favor of the Arche Berlin. In addition, the person with the most minutes on the track got a bike as a gift.
